200 Waldenbooks Mall Stores to Close in January

The Borders Group announced on Saturday that it would close about 200 mall stores in January, while keeping its 130 remaining mall stores open. The company provided a full list of the stores to be shuttered. The closures do not affect Borders' superstores or seasonal mall kiosk business. 1,500 jobs, most of which are part-time, will be lost with the closures. The company already closed 112 stores in the 2008 fiscal year, as well as an average of 66 stores a year between the 2001 and 2007 fiscal years.
