News Ponyo Sells 9,000 BDs to Top Japan's Weekly Anime Chart

Ponyo Blu-ray Disc Special Keepsake Edition also ranks at #2
Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea film sold 9,000 standard edition Blu-ray Discs to top Oricon's anime Blu-ray Disc chart for the week of December 7-13 in Japan. The Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea Blu-ray Disc Special Keepsake Edition (pictured at right) also debuted on the same chart at #2.
On Japan's overall Blu-ray chart for the week, the top release was Stephen Sommers and Paramount Pictures' G.I. Joe Special Collector's Edition, which sold 10,000 copies.
Ponyo will ship on DVD and Blu-ray in North America on March 2. The film ended its official run in American theaters on November 5 with US$15,090,399 at the box office.
