Baka to Test to Shōkanjū BD/DVDs to Add Bonus Anime

'Private Footage' created by anime's perverted "Muttsuriini" character

On Thursday, Kinokuniya's Japanese retail website began listing the six Blu-ray and DVD volumes for the Baka to Test to Shōkanjū (The Idiot, the Tests, and the Summoned Creatures) anime series, and each volume will include a new bonus anime. The main television anime series, which adapts Kenji Inoue's Baka to Test to Shōkanjū fantasy romantic comedy light novels, premiered in Japan on January 6, and the six Blu-ray/DVD volumes will ship between April 23 and September 22.

Each bonus anime is titled "Mikōkai Eizō (Seisaku: Muttsuri Shōkai)" or "Private Footage (Produced by Muttsuri Company)." Muttsuri Shōkai is the company that the story's sullen, perverted character Kōta "Muttsuriini" Tsuchiya runs. In the story, the company sells candid shots of Muttsuriini's female and male classmates to fund his surveillance habits. (The "Muttsuriini" nickname is a wordplay on the Japanese word "muttsuri" or "sullen" and the Italian World War II dictator Benito Mussolini.)

The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the "baka" of the title. His magical academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in the A class with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in F class, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats. Akihisa decides to rally F class to take on the higher-tiered classes and seize their perks. The F class uses its summoning powers in an all-out battle for school supremacy.

Update: Each Blu-ray/DVD volume will also include the "Real F Class Extracurricular Lessons" with live action footage of the main cast, the "Shichōkakushitsu de Shuchō Shiyō!" ("Speak Your Mind in Audiovisual Class!") bonus anime, and audio commentary.
