Kekkaishi Anime Streams with Subs on Hulu

posted on by Egan Loo
3 episodes in Japanese with English subs of Yellow Tanabe's supernatural fantasy

The American video website Hulu has begun streaming episodes 1, 2, and 5 of the Kekkaishi supernatural action anime in Japanese with English subtitles on Monday. Viz had announced its acquisition of this anime adaptation of Yellow Tanabe's manga at Comic-Con International in San Diego last July.

The story follows Yoshimori Sumimura, a 14-year-old junior high school boy who is the 22nd Kekkaishi — barrier master — of the Sumimura clan. As Kekkaishi, Sumimura and his rival Tokine Yukimura protect the land from supernatural beasts.

The original manga has been running in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since 2003, and Viz will publish the 20th of the 27 current manga volumes next month. The television series adaptation aired in Japan from 2006 to 2008.
