Also launching manga in Flowers mag: Machiko Kyō, Akiko Hatsu, others

Manga writer Masahiro Itabashi (Boys Be…, A Girls) and artist Kyōichi Aridome are launching a new manga series called Piano Doctor about a piano tuner in the June issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Flowers shōjo magazine in April. This series is one of several that are launching over the next four issues of the magazine.

Keiko Nishi (Love Song, Kame no Naku Koe) will start a new manga called Fuwafuwa Police - Hirugaya-Eki-Mae Kōban Shimatsuki (Fuwafuwa Police: Chronicles of the Police Box in Front of Hirugaya Station) in the April issue on Saturday. The series will follow an odd couple of female police officers as they solve cases "with love and justice." In the same issue, a relatively new creator named Murako Kinuta will launch a manga called Sansukumi.

Machiko Kyō will launch a manga called Girls Bijutsu (Girls' Arts) about the experience of getting into an arts college in the May issue next month. Kyo's autobiographical Sennen Gahō was among the manga recommended by the jury of 2007's 11th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards, and Kyō was among the first manga creators to launch a manga simultaneously in a print magazine and online via a Creative Commons license with last year's Mikako-san manga. Akiko Hatsu (Devil in the Water, Mourning of Autumn Rain), Yōko Nemu, and Sakae Kusama will each start an unnamed manga title in the July issue in May.
