Funimation cites technical issue with materials given for animation footage

The North American anime distributor Funimation has confirmed on Thursday that it used an edited version of the ending credits sequence for the My Bride is a Mermaid anime's second DVD set, which is shipping this month in North America. For the second half of the anime series in the original Japanese, a simple animation sequence accompanied Sun & Lunar's "Dan Dan Dan" ending theme song and credits. The ending sequence on Funimation's second DVD set uses one frame from the original Japanese version and pans out from this frame.

When asked about the changed ending sequence, Funimation told ANN, "It was not a mistake, just a technical issue with the file we were given, and we felt that it was best to make the change for that short sequence and complete production." Funimation also emphasized the ending sequence did not affect the story in any way.

The production company Avex included the original ending animation sequences, without superimposed or overlaid credits, in the Japanese DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases of this anime series.
