Oscar Nominee Koji Yamamura's Anime Films Get U.S. DVD

December 7 collection features "A Country Doctor," Oscar-nominated "Mt. Head"
Independent and international film distributor Zeitgeist Films has announced that it will release a DVD of Koji Yamamura's anime shorts collection under the name Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor and Other Fantastic Films on December 7. The collection includes 13 animated shorts such as "A Country Doctor" and "Mt. Head." "A Country Doctor" earned top prizes at the Hiroshima Animation Fest and at the Czech AniFest in 2008, as well as at the Rome Animation Fest in 2007.
Yamamura also received an Oscar nod in 2003 for his short "Mt. Head," although he did not win. He remains the only Japanese animator besides Hayao Miyazaki and Kunio Katō to be nominated for an Oscar.
