Suzy's Zoo Greeting Cards Get Japanese TV Anime Series

Little Koala's Hidekazu Ohara to direct; Mai Nakahara, Maaya Sakamoto, others in cast

The Japanese television network TBS announced on Thursday that it will start airing the Suzy's Zoo Daisuki! Witzy series of television anime shorts this April. The anime adapts the American greeting card line Suzy's Zoo from the San Diego-based artist Suzy Spafford. The story will center around a duckling named Witzy and his stuffed animal friends in a verdant backyard.

Hidekazu Ohara (Adventures of the Little Koala's character designer, Digital Juice, Professor Dan Petory's Blues) is directing the anime at Digital Media Lab (CG production on Halo Legends, Legendz: Yomigaeru Ryuuou Densetsu). Kaori Kita is supervising the scripts, and Hitoshi Murakami (Amagami SS, Ōkamikakushi, Pandora Hearts) is producing. The voice cast is as follows:

Mai Nakahara as Witzy
Ryoko Shiraishi as Boof (teddy bear)
Ayana Taketatsu as Lulla (plush rabbit)
Mitsuki Saiga as Patches (plush giraffe)
Saori Goto as Ellie Funt (plush elephant)
Maaya Sakamoto as Narrator
