Popular anime's 5th film gets TV showing in U.S.

The official schedule for the American Disney XD cable channel now lists the Naruto Shippūden anime film on Sunday, May 15 at 8:00 p.m.

Disney XD began running the Naruto Shippūden television anime — based on Masashi Kishimoto's ninja manga Naruto — on October 28, 2009. The channel's UK version also aired the Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai anime film last month.

The Naruto Shippūden is the fifth theatrical film based on the Naruto anime franchise. The first four were based on the first television series; the Naruto Shippūden film is the first based on the sequel television anime of the same name, which takes place two and a half years after the final events of the previous series. The Japanese anime Studio Pierrot has released three more Naruto films since Naruto Shippūden.

Thanks to Mohji for the news tip.

Update: Fixed studio name and clarified UK broadcast of Poké film. Thanks, opn.
