Akira DVD/Blu-Ray on Monday

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Plus Vampire Knight Guilty 3, and "Anime Legends" editions of Planetes and Gurren-Lagann.

Katsuhiro Ōtomo's Akira is released Monday in three editions; a DVD (RRP £19.99), a Blu-Ray (RRP £27.99) and a Blu-Ray/DVD Collector's Edition in a 'Steelbook' format (i.e. with an outer metal shell), for an RRP of £29.99. All editions are rated 15.

Manga Entertainment worked from the Kodansha/Bandai master released in America. Extras include Japanese teasers, trailers and scans of 369 pages of Otomo's storyboards. The Collector's Edition also includes a 32-page booklet on the film. However, Manga isn't able to include the Akira Production Report Making-of film, previously released on videotape and DVD.

On Monday, Manga will also released the third volume of Vampire Knight Guilty (RRP £12.99), containing episodes 8 to 10 of the series (the sequel to Vampire Knight), rated 12.

Beez is releasing the complete series of Planetes as an "Anime Legends" set (26 episodes, RRP £24.99); and the complete series of Gurren-Lagann (27 episodes, RRP £29.99).
