Kitacon Charity Auction and Gala in London, September 23

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Proceeds to be divided between Red Cross, the St. Peter's Hospice and the Meadow House Hospice

The following announcement appeared on the Kitacon convention website:

With the help of our friends at Manga Entertainment, Optimum and Ukai Sushi, we are holding a Gala Charity event in central London on the evening of Friday Sept. 23. We are operating a 'donate at the door' policy, rather than tickets, and hope to get a great mix of new faces and seasoned Kitacon veterans.

With a free glass of something bubbly for all comers, a special screening of Manga Entertainment's forthcoming release 2001 Nights and chilled sets by our resident DJs, we're going for classy, but pretty sure we're going to miss by a longshot! Tuxedos and LBDs are as welcome as cosplay, and your effort will be well appreciated.

(...) The incredible charity auction, door donations, and any other money raised, is to be divided between the Red Cross, in recognition of their work in Japan and China; the St. Peter's Hospice, in thanks for the support offered to Howl's Moving Castle author Diana Wynne Jones; and the Meadow House Hospice, for their support of Elizabeth Sladen, better known to us all as the the archetypal Doctor Who heroine, Sarah Jane Smith.
