Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos screens at 4 more N. American film fests this fall

The anime film Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos won three awards at the Burbank International Film Festival, which hosted the West Coast premiere of the film. Based on Hiromu Arakawa's original Fullmetal Alchemist manga, the film won its first American film festival awards at the September 15 - 18 event.

Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos received the following awards:

  • Best Feature (Animation)

  • Best Writing (Animation / Adaptation)

  • Best Director (Animation) - Kazuya Murata

Directed by Kazuya Murata, the film won each category in which it was nominated for an award. The Burbank International Film Festival screened live-action and animated films from around the world and gave away numerous other awards, mostly to live-action productions.

Other North American film festivals will show Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos with English subtitles in Hawaii, Toronto, Vancouver, and San Francisco.

As the second Fullmetal Alchemist movie adaptation, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos opened in Japanese theaters on July 2. The North American premiere was held at Otakon 2011 with Murata in attendance. Funimation licensed the film earlier this year, and a North American DVD and Blu-ray release is slated for spring 2012.
