Final Fantasy/Vampire Hunter D artist to appear at event March 16-18 2012

Hawaii's Kawaii Kon announced on Thursday that artist and illustrator Yoshitaka Amano will attend the event. The convention will be held at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu from March 16 to March 18.

Amano is most well known for his contributions to Vampire Hunter D and the Final Fantasy series, as well as his collaboration with English graphic novelist Neil Gaiman on Sandman: The Dream Hunters. Amano has been involved in more than 20 anime works and more than 30 video game titles throughout his career. He has been in the anime industry since he was 15, when he joined the veteran studio Tatsunoko Production. Among his first character design credits at Tatsunoko were Time Bokan, Hutch, the Honeybee, and Shinzō Ningen Casshan. He also created Yasai no Yōsei - N.Y. Salad, a television anime about the secret nocturnal life of vegetables in a New York kitchen, which inspired a 3D film in 2010. Amano will release Deva Zan, his first, full-length 3D anime film with his Studio Devaloka, in spring 2012. Amano previously attended the Fan Expo Canada CNAnime event in Toronto last year.

Kawaii Kon is also hosting voice actors Johnny Yong Bosch and Vic Mignogna, and voice actress Lisa Ortiz.
