Japanese Videogame Talks in London on February 21 and 22.

Discussions of videogames' past and future at The Japan Foundation.

The Japan Foundation in Russell Squre, London, (map) has announced two upcoming talks on Japanese videogames, to take place on Tuesday February 21 and Wednesday February 22. Both events will be at 6.30 p.m.

The talk on February 21 is called "The Past: Game Over?" about the preservation of videogame culture. It will be given by Professor Akira Baba of the University of Tokyo and Professor James Newman from Bath Spa University. The talk will discuss whether videogame culture should be archived in some way, and if so, what are the possibilities.

The talk on Febuary 22 is called "The Present and Future: Progress to Next Level?" It discusses the future prospects for the Japanese game industry. Professor Akira Baba will be joined by Takuma Endō, the president of ACQUIRE and Development Director of the game Tenchu, as well as by the freelance journalist Steve Boxer.
