News Kannagi Director 'Yamakan' Works on 3/11 Charity Animation
posted on 2012-03-05 19:25 EST
The schedule for public events at 2012's Tokyo International Anime Fair lists a presentation on March 24 regarding a "3/11 charity animation" featuring director Yutaka Yamamoto (Kannagi, Fractale). According to the schedule, the session will be held by "Project Blossom / Ordet."
In an interview published last September, Yamamoto (or as he is known, "Yamakan") expressed his desire to deal with the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster in his next work. The anime studio Ordet, founded by Yamamoto, joined with studios Sanzigen and Trigger to form Ultra Super Pictures last October.

If this film causes more permanent damage than most Pokémon outings, that's wholly the fault of its main character, Keldeo.
On the whole, The Battle for Doldrey is a mixed bag of strengths and weaknesses. While that may be true of most things, there are few places where those lines are so clearly drawn as in this film.
The annoyingly unnecessary narration remains, but otherwise this offering delivers four more episodes of quality entertainment. If you weren't sure about after the first volume, this one should sell you on its merits.
