Pairs of cosplayers can enter, winners go to 2013 final in Nagoya.

The Hyper Japan festival has announced that its next Earls Court event in November will host the Preliminary U.K. round for the 2013 World Cosplay Summit.

According to the Hyper Japan site, "The World Cosplay Summit (pictured) is a week-long series of events, with pairs of cosplayers taking part in activities such as parades, photo shoots, press conferences and TV appearances. The grand finale is the World Cosplay Summit Championship, when the cosplayers perform on stage at the outdoor Oasis 21 arena in front of an audience of 20,000, competing for the title of World Cosplay Summit Champion.” The final is held annually in the Japanese city of Nagoya in Japan, and is broadcast by TV Aichi.

The U.K. is participating in the Summit for the first time in 2012. The winners of the preliminary round this Spring were Laura Sindall and Alexander Rutter.

Full rules and entry forms will go up on the Hyper Japan site by July 1, and entries will open on September 1. Pairs of cosplayers will be able to enter; they will need to live in the U.K or have a British passport. All queries about the cosplay competitions at Hyper Japan should be emailed to cosplay@hyperjapan.co.uk

The next Hyper Japan festival will take place from Friday 23 November to Sunday 25 November 2012 at Earls Court.
