Kazuya Minekura to Resume Wild Adapter Manga Next Spring

Mystery boys-love by Saiyuki creator went on hiatus in 2011; video anime planned

The official Twitter acocunt for Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum magazine announced on Monday that Kazuya Minekura (Saiyuki) will resume her Wild Adapter "hard-boiled action" manga next spring. The October issue of the magazine will provide more details on August 28.

In the mystery boys-love story, a young gang leader named Makoto takes in Minoru Tokitō, a boy with an enigmatic past. Minoru has been exposed to the drug "W.A." which has transformed his right arm into a monstrous limb. The two investigate the origins of the drug that is devastating the city's underground.

The manga originally launched in Tokuma Shoten's bimonthly Chara magazine in 2000, but then it switched publishers to Ichijinsha last year. Ichijinsha has since republished the six compiled volumes of Wild Adapter. Minekura herself went on hiatus from her manga work in late 2010 due to surgery.

Tokyopop licensed the Wild Adapter manga in 2006 for release in North America. The company published six volumes before the company closed its North American publishing division.

In March, Monthly Comic Zero-Sum announced that an original video anime (OVA) adaptation has been green-lit, along with a vocal CD, a "Kubo-Toki" live concert event, and a new art collection book titled sugar coat excess.
