Tiger and Bunny: The Beginning Dublin Screening on September 29

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Superhero spinoff comes to Lighthouse Cinema a week after Japanese release.

There will be a screening of the first Tiger & Bunny feature film, Gekijō-ban Tiger & Bunny -The Beginning-, at Dublin's Lighthouse cinema (directions) on Saturday September 29, a week after the film's Japanese release. The time of the screening is not confirmed as of writing. On the facebook page of the Nom-con convention, Andrew Partridge of Kaze commented, "We think tickets should actually be available if you call up or visit the venue already." The Lighthouse Cinema's phone number is Dublin 01 8728006.

The first Tiger & Bunny film is directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani (Betterman, GaoGaiGar: King of Braves, Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera). According to the April 2012 issue of Animage magazine, it will have story elements similar in outline to those in the television series. However, producers Kazuhiko Tamura and Chika Matsui said that the film project as a whole will also have new characters, and the second Tiger & Bunny film - which they hope will be released in 2013 - will be an entirely new story.

Tiger & Bunny centres around heroes for hire — super powered beings known as NEXT who wear sponsor logos while fighting crime on live television. Keiichi Satou (Karas director, The Big O character/mechanical designer) directed the project, and Masafumi Nishida (live-action Kaibutsu-kun) wrote and oversaw the scripts. Manga artist Masakazu Katsura (Video Girl Ai, DNA², I''s, Zetman), a well-known fan of Batman and other superhero comics, created the original character designs.
