Viz Media to Publish Bakuman's Manga-in-Manga 1-Shot 'Otter #11'

Akira Toriyama, Masakazu Katsura's 'Sachie-chan Good!!' 1-shot also featured in upcoming yearbook

The North American publisher Viz Media announced on Monday that it will be publishing a "SJ Alpha Yearbook 2013" printed collection book for those who attend New York Comic Con or subscribe to the company's Shonen Jump Alpha digital anthology.

The book will include an English translation of the one-shot "Otter No. 11" Bakuman. spinoff manga. Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's Bakuman. story revolves around two aspiring manga creators in high school. In the world of Bakuman., a professional artist named Kazuya Hiramaru created Otter No. 11, a hit gag comedy manga about otter people. Otter No. 11 was even made into an anime in Bakuman.'s world. The one-shot was originally published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2010.

The book will also include Masakazu Katsura (Video Girl Ai, DNA², I''s) and Akira Toriyama's (Dragon Ball, Dr. Slump, Sand Land) "Sachie-chan Good!!" ("Sachie-chan Guu!!") one-shot manga, which originally debuted in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine in 2008.

The book will also include an interview with Toriyama and Katsura, a Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game promo card, cosplay photos, fan art, a double-sided centerfold poster, and 2012 convention recaps.

Viz Media is currently hosting preview pages from the book on its website.

The company will give out a free version of the yearbook at its Shonen Jump Alpha fan meet-up at the Kinokuniya Bookstore in New York City on Friday, October 12, and the book will also be available at Viz Media's booth at the convention on October 13-14.

Shonen Jump Alpha members will also receive the book by mail by December 2012.

Update: Viz notified ANN that the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card will only be available in the Yearbook shipped to subscribers, not the one distributed to NYCC members. Which card will be included will be announced at NYCC.
