Dasshutsu Gasshapon Mobile Social Game Gets Anime Project

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Anime follows young boy as he collect guardian elements in order to save the future

The official website for Bandai's upcoming Dasshutsu Gasshapon (Escape Gasshapon) mobile social game revealed that the game is being animated. Current cast includes Yūko Mita (Maison Ikkoku's Akemi, Urusei Yatsura's Benten) as the main character Shōta Hoshikawa, and Daisuke Sakaguchi (Tokyo Mew Mew's Kish/Quiche, Hyou-ka's Satoshi) as Shōta's dream-world alter-ego, Nobunaga.

Yūsuke Yatazaki is handling the character designs and storyboarding, while the studio Tomato Kyōfū (Kyotoma) is responsible for directing, planning, and scriptwriting (along with Uematsu Inoue). Wolli Music is scoring the soundtrack, and Yuzo Yamamoto, Fujitsuka, and Yasuko Kawakami are animating.

The story revolves around Shōta, a regular high school boy whose life is suddenly changed when a creature called a Gasshapon appears in front of him, and claims to come from the future. (The Gasshapon is shaped like Bandai's Gashapon prize-dispensing machines.) The Gasshapon was sent to the past by the future Shōta, from an era in which an alien group called CC (or Cold Cosmo) have made it their mission to change all stars and planets that have light and warmth into dark, cold places like their own. The Gasshapon had intended to take young Shōta to 2080 to save the future, but because time travel had not been fully perfected yet, Shōta is thrown into a completely different time, the era of the Honnō-ji Incident (1582), where Shōta actually becomes the famous warlord Oda Nobunaga.

The anime's release date has not been set, though the social game will be released later this month on the Mobage mobile game platform.
