Kia Asamiya Restarts My Favorite Carrera/Kanojo no Carrera Manga

Manga creator Kia Asamiya (Silent Möbius, Dark Angel, Nadesico) announced on Saturday that his My Favorite Carrera (Kanojo no Carrera) manga will resume in Gentosha Comics' Comic Birz magazine on January 30, 2013 under the new title Kanojo no Carrera RS. The manga had ended its earlier run on the website of Shueisha's Weekly Playboy magazine in September. Asamiya also posted the cover of the manga's 2013 calendar (pictured right), which will be sold at events and through mail order.
In the original manga, a woman named Reina inherits her father's Type 964 Porsche 911 Carrera RS and gradually develops an appreciation for the super car. The manga's new run will be set four months after Reina's trip to Tohoku, the northeastern region of Japan hard hit by last year's earthquake.
Asamiya launched the manga in the print version of Weekly Playboy itself in 2004, but it moved to the magazine's website last year. Asamiya had said in September that the manga would eventually find a way to continue "as long as I live." Asamiya launched a separate, monthly series of short automobile stories called Aika ga Hashiru! Bijo-ning Car Drive!! on e-CarLife.net's free website DRiViSiON in August.
