Author Ichiro Sakaki (Scrapped Princess, Polyphonica) is currently preparing a new work with the theme being "Vocaloid", YAMAHA's voice-synthesis software made popular by Crypton Future Media's Hatsune Miku and other virtual singer characters. The news was broken by an editor from PHP's Smash light novel imprint and the reveal was a surprise to Sakaki. Sakaki stated that the vocaloid theme was a request from Smash's editorial staff and he has not yet finished the draft.
And this week saw several previews including Star Driver the Movie (seen here) and will open in Japan on February 9th 2013. The film is a "new construction" of the Star Driver Kagayaki no Takuto story that revolves around the fates of Takuto, Wako, and Sugata. It will also have an all-new segment about these characters' lives after the story of the television series.
The first promotion video for Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman began streaming this week with original character designs by Lupin III creator Monkey Punch.. The anime is based on the CR Ginroku Gijinden Roman pachinko game and the main character is a "helper" named Manjirō by day and a phantom thief "retriever" named Roman by night. Roman steals back people's precious items that were unfairly taken from them.
And finally a promotional video for the anime adaptation of NisiOisin's Nekomonogatari (Black) novel has started streaming. The anime will debut on December 31st in a synchronized broadcast on Niconico and Japan's Tokyo MX and BS11 television channels. The original novel contains the "Tsubasa Family" story, set between Kizumonogatari and Bakemonogatari, with the character Tsubasa Hanekawa.
