Kurozuka's Noguchi to Draw Ultra Red Police Manga

Late crime novelist Jukō Nishimura inspires manga about anti-terrorist team in Shinjuku

The April issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine announced on Tuesday that Takashi Noguchi (Kurozuka) is launching his Ultra Red manga in the next issue on March 19. Based on a story by the late crime novelist Jukō Nishimura, the manga follows an extraordinary public security team who confronts a terrorist incident in Tokyo's Shinjuku ward. (The new manga has no relation to the earlier manga of the same name by Nakaba Suzuki.)

Noguchi adapted Baku Yumemakura's Kurozuka supernatural romance novel into a manga, which in turn inspired an anime in 2008. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Crackle released the anime in North America. Noguchi also created a spinoff of the late Mitsuteru Yokoyama's classic manga Babel II called Babel II: The Returner in 2010.
