Japan Foundation Sydney Announces Yuko Miyamura Events Alongside Evangelion Art Exhibition

The Japan Foundation in Sydney will soon be host to the Evangelion Art Exhibition and has announced two events with voice actor Yūko Miyamura (Asuka - Evangelion 3.0);

The Evangelion Art Exhibition tour has been organised by Madman Entertainment in collaboration with NTV Films, The Japan Foundation Sydney, The Arts Centre Gold Coast, No Vacancy Gallery and the Gold Coast Film Festival.

The exhibition contains insight into how the Evangelion anime film series was created, showcasing a collection of original concept, character and production art alongside other items and points of interest from the Evangelion anime series. Rare and valuable Evangelion books, statues, tapestries and other items will also be part of the exhibition.

The Japan Foundation has organised two events with Yūko Miyamura. The first is a free public Q & A session to be hosted by Ryan Huff, Editor of The Geek of Oz. This Q & A session is scheduled for Saturday the 11th of May and has already been booked out, but you can ask to be placed on the wait list by emailing The Japan Foundation at the address listed here.

The second event will be a voice acting workshop to give participants an insight into what occurs behind the scenes of voice acting for an anime production, using video images from Evangelion as examples. As Yūko Miyamura is conducting the workshop all applicants are chosen in advance through an online audition process. The workshop will be held on Saturday the 11th of May from 2:00pm AEST and will cost $100 AUD if auditions are successful, you can apply online.

About Yūko Miyamura

Yūko Miyamura is an actress, j-pop singer and director. She is famously known as the Japanese voice-actor for Asuka Langley Shikinami in Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Rebuild of Evangelion films including most recently Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. Yūko Miyamura has voiced characters in a long list of anime and video games including Casca in Berserk, Kazuha Toyama in Detective Conan, Alyssa Searrs in My-HiME and NieA in NieA_7. Miyamura is also well-known for voicing Chun-Li in the Street Fighter game series.

The exhibition is currently installed at The Art Centre on the gold coast until Sunday the 5th of May and will be visiting the No Vacancy Gallery in Melbourne from Monday the 27th of May to Sunday the 9th of June.
