3-episode OVA of Suzuhito Yasuda's manga began release on DVD in 2009

The official website for the Yozakura Quartet anime announced on Thursday that a Blu-ray release of the 3-episode Yozakura Quartet ~Hoshi no Umi~ OAV has been green-lit. The series was previously shipped with the manga's 9th, 10th, and 11th volumes of Suzuhito Yasuda (Durarara!!, Kamisama Kazoku novel illustrations)'s Yozakura Quartet manga.

The set of all three episodes will be released in Japan by Pony Canyon on one Blu-ray disc on July 26 for the price of 6,825 yen (about US$69). First copies of the Blu-ray will have a special package jacket with an illustration by original creator Suzuhito Yasuda. All copies of the Blu-ray will come with a clean opening and ending sequence.

Director Ryoochimo Sawa directed the OVAs at Tatsunoko Production and Purple Cow Studio Japan from scripts by Manabu Ishikawa (Mononoke, Kūchū Buranko, Love Hina). The music for the OVAs was provided by musical artists Unison Square Garden and Suemitsu & the Suemith, and the cast from the first season of the anime returned to reprise their roles.

A new television anime with the same staff and cast as the OVAs has been green-lit, as well as a new Yozakura Quartet ~Tsuki ni Naku~ OAV. The first episode of the “Tsuki ni Naku” OVA will be shipped with the 14th volume of the manga on October 9.
