Weekend Wrapup: 21/Jul - 27/Jul

This week we have SMASH and Reel Anime news, Harmony Gold issuing lawsuits and Little Witch Academia receiving more projects;

The Sydney Manga and Anime Show (to be held this coming weekend) will have The Rebuild of Evangelion animation director joining voice actors Masakazu Mortia (Bleach) and Haruko Momoi (Stiens;Gate) for the Saturday event.

The final film of Reel Anime 2013 has been announced as a double bill of The Garden of Words and Ghost in the Shell Arise. No dates for the October season have been announced.

Harmony Gold have sued Hasbro over their SDCC toy exclusive Jetfire inspired skystalker re-deco. The lawsuit calls for damages and a recall of every single toy. Hasbro has yet to comment.

The first initial shot taken from the start of filming for the 2014 sequel to live-action Rurouni Kenshin was posted online by star Takeru Satoh's staff. The photo of Satoh as Kenshin Himura in a traditional Japanese building marks the beginning of shooting.

Shūichi Shigeno's Initial D car-racing manga is inspiring an anime film, Shin Gekijō-ban Initial D (New Initial D: The Movie), next summer. A new series titled "Final Stage" will cover the manga's final battles. Initial D has been published in Kodansha's Young Magazine since 1995 and concludes in today's issue on Monday the 29th of July.

And finally, Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine announced that it will publish a short manga inspired by Trigger's Little Witch Academia anime short in it's August 19th publication.
