Outbreak Company Anime's Promo Video Streamed

posted on by Karen Ressler
Natsuki Hanae to play main character in NEET fantasy anime premiering on October 3

The official website for the upcoming anime Outbreak Company began streaming a promotional video that introduces the series' main cast on Thursday. The characters featured in the video include: Shinichi Kanō (Natsuki Hanae), Myucel Foaran (Suzuko Mimori), Petralka Anne Eldant III (Mai Fuchigami), and minori Koganuma (Maaya Uchida). The series will premiere on TBS on October 3.

The official website also updated to add several other cast members:

Additionally, Sumire Uesaka will play Elbia Hanaiman.

Outbreak Company's story centers around Shinichi Kano, a "thoroughbred class" otaku with a light novelist father and an erotic game artist mother. The NEET (not in education, employment, or training) high school dropout has no special talents except for his vast knowledge, opinions, and insight on moe.

Despite this, the Japanese government assigns Shinichi as a "moe" evangelist to the Holy Eldant Empire, a parallel world with an entrance through a thick forest of trees in the Mount Fuji area. In this fantasy world where dragons soar the skies, Shinichi forms a deep friendship with the half-elf maid girl Myucel and the beautiful young empress Petralka. Even as he deals with the threats of war between different factions, he worries that he himself is an invader to this wondrous land.

Kei Oikawa (Minami-ke: Okaeri) is directing the series anime studio feel. Naruhisa Arakawa (Kingdom, MAOYU) is supervising the scripts and Takashi Mamezuka (Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!) is designing the characters. Mimori will sing the series' opening theme "Yunibā Page." Shou Watanabe, who has previously worked with ClariS and LiSA, is writing and composing the opening theme. Fuchigami will sing the series' ending theme "Watashi no Hōsekibako."

The series adapts Ichiro Sakaki's light novels of the same name. Sakaki's other writings have spawned several other anime such as Polyphonica, Scrapped Princess, and Strait Jacket.

Update: Shou Watanabe, not LiSA, is writing and composing the opening theme.
