Revamped MMORPG to have FFXIII costumes & items to mark Lightning Returns' launch

Square Enix unveiled a trailer and more details on the latest collaboration between its MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and its upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII game on Thursday.

In the "Final Fantasy Go There" campaign, Final Fantasy XIII lead character Lightning will appear in Final Fantasy XIV, and players can take part in an event battle and obtain weapons and equipment with a Final Fantasy XIII motif.

The full active time event will run for one week starting November 14, to commemorate the Japanese launch of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII on November 21. Final Fantasy XIII's Motomu Toriyama created the scenario for the event with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn producer and director Naoki Yoshida. Female characters can wear Lightning's costume, while male characters can wear Snow's.

Famitsu posted more images of the weapons and equipment players can earn.

Additionally, Square Enix revealed earlier this week that in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the company will offer a Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn tie-in with Lightning in a Miqo'te costume and holding shields with motifs of the game's three city-states: Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, and Ul'dah.
