SunnyCon 2014 Changes Venue

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Sunderland event moves to Pullman next door, smaller venue reduces maximum attendance to 1500.

The Sunderland convention SunnyCon has made the following announcement on its website, regarding its next event from June 21 to 22:

SunnyCon 3 will no longer be held in the Seaburn Center. Due to an issue we have had to move venue for our 2014 event. SunnyCon 3 will now take place in the Pullman situated right next door. The Pullman is a Sunderland landmark and has been for years and is currently under new management undergoing a facelift just in time for SunnyCon 3.

The announcement goes on to say that tickets already bought are unaffected, and there will be no changes to accommodation guests, traders, arts and panels. The event will now include "an 18+ area for more mature content panels and activities alongside more panel rooms and better noise control." A free 'ice breaker event' is planned on Friday evening.

The announcement continues:

There is however a downside at the moment as the Pulman is slightly smaller so we are implementing a reduced attendance cap to 1500. We are continuously looking at possibilities and ways to expand further to increase capacity for this year but for now we have to reduce the amount of tickets. This means we are now over halfway sold out and tickets are becoming even more limited by the day. There is now a realistic chance we may sell out a lot quicker than anticipated so if you were planning on leaving it till the last minute we urge you to buy early so you wont miss out as this time we may not be selling tickets on the day over the weekend.

In a separate announcement, SunnyCon confirmed that representatives of East Asian TV (EATV) will attend the event, and appear on a Q&A panel.
