Hanabee Announces New Acquisitions from Supanova Expo Melbourne

posted on by Jon Hayward
Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl and Amnesia to be released in Australia by July.

Hanabee made the following announcements during the Hanabee Panel at Supanova Pop Culture Expo Melbourne on Saturday the 11th of April. The announcements were then made public on Tuesday the 15th of April on Hanabee's facebook page.

This is in addition to last week's announcements of Beyond the Boundary, Toradora! on Blu-ray with English dub and anohana on Blu-ray.

Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl

When his parents go overseas, Makoto Niwa is forced to move in with his aunt Meme Tōwa, which was fine until he finds that his aunt has a daughter, Erio Tōwa. Makoto continues to be surprised as Erio is more than a little eccentric, she isn't enrolled in school, wears a futon and claims to be an extraterrestrial lifeform sent to observe humanity.

Adapted from Hitoma Iruma's light novels of the same name, this 13 episode series was produced at studio SHAFT under the direction of Akiyuki Shinbo (Bakemonogatari, Madoka Magica). Asako Nishida (Vampire Knight, Gosick) is the animation director and is responsible for adapting Buriki's original designs from the novels and Yuniko Ayana handled the series composition and scripts.

The series has been released in North America by NIS America in a Blu-ray DVD combo pack.

Hanabee's release will be hitting on the 2nd of July 2014 as a DVD with Japanese audio and English subtitles. You can view the facebook announcement post here.

Amnesia

Based on Idea Factory's otome visual novel of the same name, Amnesia starts with the Heroine awakening in a cafe and realising she has lost her memories. Suddenly a spirit appears in midair and reveals he was responsible for the Heroine losing her memories and that while he shall help her regain them, she must keep her Amnesia a secret. Now the Heroine must work with the spirit and the handsome gents she finds surrounding her life to piece together what really happened.

The original game was released on PSP in 2011 with Amnesia Later in 2012, Amnesia Crowd in 2013 also on the system. A port, Amnesia: V Edition was released for PSVita in December 2013 and another sequel, Amnesia World is slated for PSVita at the end of May 2014.

The anime was produced by Brains Base under the direction of Yoshimitsu Ohashi (Galaxy Angel) with series composition handled by Touko Machida (Karneval, Inari Kon Kon). Mai Hanamura's original character designs were adapted by animation director Maho Yoshikawa (The irregular at magic high school). The series originally aired from the beginning of Janruary 2013 and ran for 12 episodes.

Amnesia was streamed by Crunchyroll almost everywhere, including Australia and New Zealand and while Sentai Filmworks licensed the series in North America back in December 2013 a home video release is yet to be scheduled.

Hanabee's release will be on DVD and Blu-ray in Japanese audio and English subtitles and English dub on the 2nd of July 2014. You can view the announcement here.
