posted on by Jon Hayward
Complete subtitle only release planned for Australia and New Zealand;

Siren Visual made the announcement on their page on Friday the 2nd of May 2014. The announcement states that the release will be DVD only with Japanese audio and English subtitles but no release date yet. The sequel Chi's New Address will also be released at some point in the near future.

Chi's Sweet Home

Chi's a kitten in a bit of a pickle, she's been separated from her mommy and can't find her way back. Luckily for Chi a young boy called Yōhei Yamada finds her and brings Chi back to the family apartment. The only problem is that the Yamada's apartment doesn't allow pets and they now have a mischief-loving trouble-making kitten on their hands.

Chi's Sweet Home is based on Kanata Konami's original manga of the same name. The manga has been running in Kodansha's Morning magazine since 2004 and the 11th compiled volume was just published in Japan at the end of April. Vertical Inc has been publishing the manga in North America and will release volume 11 in August 2014.

Both Chi's Sweet Home and Chi's New Address were directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Polar Bear Cafe) at Madhouse Studios with series composition by Tomoko Konparu (Nodame Cantabile) with Akemi Kobayashi (Pretear) adapting the character designs.

Chi's Sweet Home consists of 104, 2 minute shorts and it started airing in Japan in March 2008. The second series Chi's New Address also ran for another 104 episodes and premiered in April 2009. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it was aired in Japan.

Diskotek has recently licensed the series for release in North America.
