The Japanese arm of Amazon is listing two CDs for the theme songs of the upcoming television anime Tokyo ESP. According to Amazon Japan, the singer Faylan will perform the opening theme song "Tokyo Zero Hearts," while the group Yousei Teikoku will perform the as-yet-untitled ending theme song. Lantis is slated to ship the opening theme maxi-single on July 30, while the ending theme maxi-single from Lantis will have a limited-edition DVD bundle on August 6.

Faylan has previously performed theme songs for BlazBlue Alter Memory, The Future Diary, The Qwaser of Stigmata, Gundam AGE, Samurai Girls, and both seasons of Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East, among others. Voice actress Yui Itsuki's Yousei Teikoku group contributed to the soundtracks of The Future Diary, Katanagatari, Venus Versus Virus, Innocent Venus, The Qwaser of Stigmata, and Kurokami The Animation anime, as well as The Guided Fate Paradox and Super Heroine Chronicle games.

Hajime Segawa's original science fantasy manga begins with Rinka, an extremely poor high school girl who lives with just her father in modern Tokyo. One day, she is going home from school when she chases a "flying penguin" to the top of New Tokyo Tower — only to have "fish swimming in the air" suddenly appear before her. One of the fish goes through Rinka and gives her extraordinary powers beyond those of normal humans, particularly the ability to slip through solid objects.

Segawa launched the "afterschool psychic action" series in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in 2010, shortly after ending The Enchained Spiritual Beast Ga-Rei supernatural action series. Kadokawa published the ninth compiled book volume of Tokyo ESP last December.

The anime will premiere this summer.
