Rail Wars! TV Anime Gets Video Game by Mages

Single-player adventure game inspired by novels & its upcoming summer anime adaptation

Game developer Mages announced on Friday that a video game inspired by the anime adapting Takumi Toyoda's Rail Wars! -Nihon Kokuyū Tetsudō Kōantai- (Rail Wars! Japanese National Railways Security Force) light novel series is currently in production, and will be produced by Mages and 5pb. The title will be a one-player adventure game, but no information as to the system or release date has been announced as of yet.

The "dream railway paradise entertainment" story of Rail Wars! is set in a parallel world where Japan did not privatize its national railways. Naohito Takayama is an ordinary high school boy who dreams of a comfortable future working for the top-rated Japanese National Railways. He is assigned as one of four high school trainees in the Railways Security Force. Also in his group is Aoi Sakurai, a female troublemaker who hates men. On top of his sudden transfer, an extremist group called "RJ" plots to privatize the Japanese National Railways.

Yoshifumi Sueda (Haitai Nanafa, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood episode director) is directing the anime at animation studio Passione (Haitai Nanafa) with series composition by Masashi Suzuki (The Sacred Blacksmith, Shuffle!). Makoto Uno (Love Hina, The Qwaser of Stigmata) serves as character designer and chief animation director, and Sayaka Koiso serves as chief animation director and sub-character designer. Yuushi Koshida (Kids on the Slope, Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing-) is the CGI director, and Yoshiaki Fujisawa (Love Live! School idol project, The Eccentric Family) composes the music.

The anime will premiere on Japanese television this summer.

Toyoda launched the light novel series with illustrations by Vania 600 in 2012.
