Ghost in the Shell Arise #3's Trailer Previews Sean Lennon Song

Tatsuhisa Suzuki plays Motoko's lover in June 28 screenings about terrorist bombing & genius hacker

The official website for the Ghost in the Shell Arise anime project and the PlayStation YouTube channel began streaming the one-minute theatrical trailer for the third installment on Saturday. The third episode, titled "border:3 Ghost Tears," will open in theaters in Japan on June 28. The trailer features part of the episode's ending theme song "HeartGrenade" by Sean Lennon (the son of the late musician John Lennon and artist Yōko Ono) and the anime's composer Keigo Oyamada (also known as Cornelius).

The tagline in the trailer and the poster reads, "The love that seeks this body." Cornelius revealed that the episode has a contract killer who falls in love with his target, a cyborg. The episode finally assembles all the members of the team as they deal with a terrorist bombing at a dam and a secretive "ultra-wizard-level hacker" known only as Fire Starter. The bombing may be linked to "Scylla," the hero of the Carudisu War of Independence in the Republic of Kuzan.

Tatsuhisa Suzuki will play the new character Akira Hose, Motoko Kusanagi's lover. A new facet of Motoko will be revealed through this custom-made cyborg engineer.

Hisakawa will play another new character, Dr. Zhinzhee Bekka Arr Thied of the Republic of Kuzan's government water enterprise.

Kayano will play Emma, a new agent scouted by the 501 Organization.

Shunsuke Sakuya will play Ishikawa after Ishikawa's first voice actor in this anime, Tomoyuki Dan, passed away last October.

Ghost in the Shell Arise border: 3 Ghost Tears will open in Japan on June 28, and it will play in select theaters for two weeks. Funimation licensed the four-part anime and released the first episode in a special imported edition in August. The company plans to screen the first two episodes in a limited theatrical run later this year. The company is also offering the special-edition release prior to its typical English-language home video release.
