Toukiden: Kiwami Action Game's 1st Promo Streamed

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Updated version of Toukiden: The Age of Demons PS Vita/PSP game to ship in August

Koei Tecmo began streaming the first promotional video for its Toukiden: Kiwami game on Saturday. The game is slated to ship for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Portable on August 28.

An action demo for the game will be released in the PlayStation Store on Thursday.

The updated hunting action game adds new weapons, demons, and souls not featured in the original Toukiden: The Age of Demons game. The game's three new characters are the warriors Reki, Sōma, and Horō (Hollow). The new weapons include a spiked club, gun, and naginata. The new "Extreme Destroyer" ability lets players hit multiple areas at the same time. Players will be able to transfer saved game data from Toukiden: The Age of Demons.

The regular PlayStation Vita version will retail at 5,800 yen (about US$57), while the downloadable version will cost 5,143 yen (US$51). The regular PlayStation Portable version will cost 4,800 yen (US$47), and the downloadable edition will be available for 4,286 yen (US$42). The Treasure Box edition will bundle a Tenko plush, art book, soundtrack CD, and a download code for six character costumes. The set will retail at 11,800 yen (US$116) for the PlayStation Vita and 10,800 yen (US$106) for the PlayStation Portable. The game's first copies will also include a download code for Sōma and Reki costumes.

The original game is set several years after a temporal cataclysm unleashed demons into the human world. Players control a demon hunter charged with ridding the world of the new menace. The studio Omega-Force, which developed the Musou (Warriors) franchise, developed the title, and Hidari (Fractale, Natsu-iro Kiseki, Vividred Operation) designed the characters for the game. Studio 4°C animated a short to promote the game.

The original game shipped in Japan in June 2013, followed by releases in North America and Europe this past February. Urasuke Ayano also launched the digital prequel manga Toukiden Woniuchi in Sony's Reader Store last June.
