Tale of Princess Kaguya Leaves Cannes Empty-Handed

The Cannes Film Festival's official Directors' Fortnight website announced its awards from the Société des Réalisateurs Français, the French directors' group that organizes the event. Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies, Only Yesterday, Pom Poko) and Studio Ghibli's The Tale of Princess Kaguya was screened at the event but did not receive an award. It was the only animated film to screen at the Director's Fortnight event.
France's Les Combattants (Love At First Fight) by Thomas Cailley won international critics' group FIPRESCI's award, the Art Cinema Award, the SACD Prize, and the Europa Cinéma Label Prize. The Short Film prize was awarded to Sem Coraçao by Portugal's Nara Normande and Tião. Trece Si Prin Perete by Radu Jude received a Special Mention.
