Extra chapter planned for Mitsuru Hattori's story which inspired 2012 TV anime

The 10th volume of Mitsuru Hattori's zombie comedy manga Sankarea announced on Monday that the series will end in the next volume on November 7. The 11th volume will also publish at least one special extra chapter.

The story begins with Chihiro Furuya, a high school freshman who is obsessed with zombies. Even his dream is to "kiss a zombie girl." Through an unexpected set of circumstances, Chihiro gets to know a pretty girl named Rea Sanka, and together, they try to revive Chihiro's pet cat Babu who died in an accident. Chihiro discovers that Rea wants to get away from her many responsibilities by becoming a zombie herself.

Hattori launched the manga in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009, and Kodansha Comics is publishing the seventh volume in North America this month. The manga inspired a television anime in 2012, and Funimation released the anime in North America last year.
