Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo Manga Gets Original Anime DVD Project

LIDEN FILMS to animate Miki Yoshikawa's supernatural manga after making promos

After the first anime promotional video for Miki Yoshikawa's Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo manga received its one-millionth view on Thursday, Yoshikawa and Kodansha's Magazine editors debuted a second anime promotional video. The video introduces some of the characters and then announces that an anime project is launching.

The official website for the project reveals that it is an original anime DVD project. Tomoki Takuno (episode director on IDOLM@STER: XENOGLOSSIA, Love Live! School idol project) is directing the project at LIDEN FILMS with assistant director Fumiaki Usui (). Eriko Iida (episode animation director on Love Live! School idol project) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. Yota Tsuruoka is the sound director.

The full voice cast has not been announced, but the production will hold an audition for the voice of Kentarō Tsubaki. More details about the anime will be in the 33rd issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine on July 16.

The story of the original manga begins when Yamada, the high school's worst problem child, bumps into the beautiful honor student Shiraishi on the stairs, and their lips touch as they fall. When they regain their wits, they realize that they have swapped bodies. As time progresses, the two realize that this is not the only mysterious happening in the school.

Yoshikawa launched the manga in 2012, and the series is currently running in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Kodansha published the 13th volume of the manga in July, and Crunchyroll is releasing manga chapters online overseas as they are published in Japan.

The manga features cameos by characters from Yoshikawa's earlier Yankee-kun to Megane-chan manga, which inspired a live-action television series. Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo also received a live-action adaptation which premiered on the Fuji TV channel last August. LIDEN FILMS animated the first promotional video.
