Senran Kagura 2 Promo Shows More Pair Battles

August 3DS game's video introduces new characters Kagura, Naraku

FamitsuTUBE began streaming a new promotional video for Tamsoft's upcoming Nintendo 3DS action game Senran Kagura 2 -Shinku- on Thursday. The video shows more teams in the Pair Battle system and ends with a clip of the new characters Kagura and Naraku.

The video's character pairs are Asuka/Homura, Ikaruga/Yomi, Katsuragi/Hikage, Yagyu/Mirai, Hibari/Haruka, and Daidoji/Rin. The video also features Ikaruga's older brother Masamune, who is the first male playable character in the series. Masamune will be available if a player has save data from the Senran Kagura Burst game.

In pair battles, players can join characters on teams, regardless of their school. Pairs can perform various special actions such as combination and counter moves. Players can swap weapons and add gems for benefits such as added attack strength or protection from fire. The updated seamless clothing destruction feature allows players to destroy the costumes of even minor enemies.

The "Shinku" (Crimson) in the title is reflected in the game's unique deep red skies. The game's opening animation features the song “Hikari to Yami no Kanata” (Beyond Light & Dark) by Kokuritsu Hanzo Gakuen (Private Hanzo Academy), a group featuring members Hitomi Harada, Asami Imai, Yū Kobayashi, Kaori Mizuhashi, and Yuka Iguchi.

The game's “Nyū-Nyū DX Pack” limited edition set will contain the game itself, an art box, a 5-piece mini figure set featuring the Homura Crimson Squad members, an original drama CD, and a CD containing arranged original soundtrack music and the opening theme song's solo versions. Those who pre-order early will receive an original soundtrack for the game, as well as separate discs for Senran Kagura -Shōjo-tachi no Shin'ei- and Senran Kagura Burst -Guren no Shōjo-tachi-. The limited edition set is being priced at 10,810 yen (about US$108), while the normal version of the game will retail for 6,480 yen (about US$65).

Senran Kagura 2 -Shinku- will go on sale on in Japan on August 7. Marvelous AQL released the Deka Mori Senran Kagura 3DS cooking game on March 20. XSEED Games released the first Senran Kagura video game in North America last year. The franchise inspired a television anime series last year that Funimation streamed as it aired.
