AVCon 2014 on this Weekend

AVCon will take place from Friday the 18th to Sunday the 20th of July 2014 at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia. AVCon's mix of anime, video gaming, cosplay and art literally take over the centre with a large Gaming Hall, Exhibitor Hall, Maid Cafe, Indie Games Room, Retro Museum and Artist Alley. Special guest voice actor Cherami Leigh will be joined by video game voice actor Jon St.John (Duke Nukem) and the Creative Director of Obsidian Entertainment, Chris Avellone.

Cherami Leigh

Cherami Leigh has had a career in tv and film for over 20 years. While Cherami has acted in over 75 commercials her first notable appearance was in 1996's Walker Texas Ranger and has since been in front of the camera for The Mist, Friday Night Lights, Fast Food Nation and Bones. However Cherami's voice acting career is even more impressive with roles including Shana in Shakugan no Shana, Eucliwood Hellscythe in Is This a Zombie?, Cecily Campbell in The Sacred Blacksmith, Natsumi Hinata in Sgt. Frog, Kneesocks in Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Patty Thompson in Soul Eater, Elizabeth in Black Butler, Natsumi Hayamiya in Birdy the Mighty: Decode and Setsuna Sakurazaki in Negima!? And while that list is a fraction of her roles, you probably know Cherami best as Lucy Heartfilia in Fairy Tail, Asuna in Sword Art Online and will soon recognise her as as Sailor Venus and her secret identity Minako Aino in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal and the new dub of the original Sailor Moon anime.

On Saturday Cherami Leigh will be hosting a Q & A panel at 11:30am and a Voice Acting Panel at 3:30pm in the Internode Main Hall. On Sunday Cherami will be running another Q & A Panel at 11:00am and a Voice Acting Panel at 2:30pm in the Internode Main Hall. You can also view her signing and photography schedule here.

Sword Art Online Exhibition

The Sword Art Online exhibition will give fans an inside look at the show by showcasing original artwork pieces covering character designs, storyboards, animation frames and more. The exhibition will also include a photo area for fans to take photos with the heroes of Sword Art Online, Kirito and Asuna and official Sword Art Online merchandise will be available from the Madman booth (you can view the previously available merchandise here but there is no guarantee as to what will be available during part II). You will be able to visit the exhibition at the Madman booth in Exhibition Hall G.

Madman National Cosplay Championship

The Adelaide heat of the MNCC is scheduled for Saturday in the Internode Main Hall at 1:30pm. There will be four contestants and you can find out more on the Madman facebook page.

AVCon also hosts their Opening Ceremony on the Friday night at 6:30pm, usually an interesting affair they are now following on from the opening ceremony with a set of Crunchyroll screenings including Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal. Just so you're aware.
