50 works from Evangelion creator to be featured at October festival

The 27th Tokyo International Film Festival on October 23-31 will host a large event dedicated to the works of Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno.

The "Hideaki Anno's World" exhibition will screen around 50 of Anno's works. The screenings will include Anno's theatrical and television anime, as well as his independent works during his student days, short films, commercial films, and promotional videos. This will be the first event to host such a scope of Anno's works.

Anno's ritual live-action film won the Best Artistic Contribution Award at the 13th Tokyo International Film Festival in 2000, and his LOVE & POP live-action film was featured in the special screening section at the 20th festival in 2007.

This year's festival will have a major focus on animation. The festival will open with the world premiere of Walt Disney Animation Studios' Big Hero 6 film, and will will close with Takashi Yamazaki's first live-action film adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki's Parasyte manga.
