Keiji Fujiwara, Takahiro Sakurai Join Magi: Adventure of Sinbad Anime Spin-off's 3rd Episode

3rd OVA of Shinobu Ohtaka, Yoshifumi Ōtera's manga ships in December

The fourth volume of the Magi: Sinbad no Bōken (Magi: Adventure of Sinbad) spin-off manga will announce on Monday that Keiji Fujiwara and Takahiro Sakurai will join the cast in the original video anime's (OVA) third episode. Keiji Fujiwara will reprise his role as Hinahoho from the Magi television anime, and Takahiro Sakurai will return to play Ja'far.

This year's 35th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine announced in July that the third episode was green-lit. The DVD will be bundled with the special edition of the fifth volume of the manga in December.

The OVA's second episode will ship with the special edition of the fourth volume on August 18. Daisuke Ono is returning to play the young Sinbad. Other cast members include Akira Ishida as Yunan, Tomokazu Sugita as Drakon, Ai Kayano as Serendine, Katsuyuki Konishi as Badr, and Yōko Hikasa as Esra. The first OVA episode shipped with the manga's third volume in May.

A 70-page "prototype" of the manga with art by Ōtera was bundled with the first Blu-ray Disc of the Magi anime in 2012. The manga's prologue also ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday later that year. After beginning a full serialization in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, it moved to the publisher's web comic site "Ura Sunday" last year.

This Magi OVA is part of Shonen Sunday's "Sunday Anime Project," a wave of new anime adaptations that began in 2013. Previous adaptations included last year's 16th Detective Conan film, Detective Conan: The Eleventh Striker.
