Chaos;HEAd's Yui Sakakibara to perform theme song for new adaptation of Yuji Shiozaki's action manga

The October issue of Wani Books' Comic Gum magazine is announcing on Tuesday that the new Ikki Tousen project that was announced earlier this year is a second original video anime (OVA). The promotional video for the new OVA debuted at the Comic Market 86 event that was held last weekend. The magazine lists that Yui Sakakibara (Chaos;HEAd, H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~) will provide the anime's theme song, and hints that the cast "might be announced in the next issue."

Tokyopop held the license to Yuji Shiozaki's original manga in North America under the name Battle Vixens until the company closed its North American publishing branch.

Geneon Entertainment once released the first Ikkitousen anime series in North America, and Funimation then picked up the license. Media Blasters had licensed both the second Ikkitousen anime series, Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny, and the third series, Ikkitousen Great Guardians, but Funimation picked up the license for Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians.

The last entries in the franchise, Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor and Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku, debuted in 2010 and 2011. Funimation licensed Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor with Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku.
