Orenchi no Furo Jijō's New Promo Introduces New Cast

posted on by Sarah Nelkin

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Itokichi's Orenchi no Furo Jijō (The Circumstances in My Home's Bathtub) manga began streaming a new promotional video for the upcoming series on Monday.

Narrator: There's a handsome merman living in my house's bath tub! A bath anime that will make you laugh a lot, and warm you up a lot! What kind of anime is it, you say? It's an anime about Wakasa, a handsome but clumsy merman, Tatsumi, a cool high-schooler who is good at taking care of others, and all the strange guests that come frequently.
Text: (from left to right) Takasu - An octopus who sometimes shows up at my house.
Kasumi - A little girl who loves her big brother.
Maki - A spiral-shelled snail who appears sneakily at my house.
Mikuni: A jellyfish who aimlessly appears at my house.
Narrator: Orenchi no Furo Jijō. Broadcasts start in October!

The official website also updated with new cast members:

Newcomer Yuichiro Umehara as Wakasa, a handsome merman who lives in Tatsumi's bath tub after being picked up by him. You must never ask his age.

Ibuki Kido (Golden Time, Pupa) as Kasumi, Tatsumi's loving younger sister. Her rival is Wakasa.

Natsuki Hanae (Nagi no Asukara, Sword Art Online II) as Mikuni, a jellyfish who aimlessly wanders into Tatsumi's home. His body is made up of ninety-nine percent water.

Kenjiro Tsuda (Yu-Gi-Oh!, K: Missing Kings) as Maki, a spiral-shelled snail who sneakily appears at Tatsumi's house. He's super near-sighted and negative.

Yoshihisa Kawahara (Fairy Tail, Kämpfer) as Ahiru-chan (lit. Ducky), one of the three holy items found in Japanese bathtubs. Ahiru-chan is in charge of narrating the story.

The new cast will join:

Nobunaga Shimazaki (Free! Eternal Summer, Date A Live) as Tatsumi, the landlord of the his household. A high school student. He's living alone, doing what he wants... Or at least, he was supposed to be.

Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Free! Eternal Summer, Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts) as Takasu, an octopus who sometimes shows up at Tatsumi's home. He appears to have an inseparable friendship with Wakasa, although he'd rather not. His special skill is massage.

Itokichi's four-panel manga begins with Tatsumi, a high school boy who lives by himself. Then, a devastatingly handsome merman named Wakasa moves into the bathtub in Tatsumi's home. Wakasa is a bit self-centered but cute, while Tatsumi is cool but a busybody. The manga offers a peek into their lives together.

Sayo Aoi (Deadman Wonderland, Say, "I Love You". episode director) will direct the series at Asahi Production (Alice in the Country of Hearts: Wonderful Wonder World). Yuniko Ayana (Kin-iro Mosaic, Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing-) will handle the series composition and Koji Haneda (Sengoku Paradise Kiwami) will handle the character design. Matenrou Opera is performing the anime's opening theme song.

The anime will premiere on television on October 6.
