New Manga Adapting Monte Cristo Novel Begins in Young Animal Arashi

Retelling of classic Dumas novel of prison escapee bent on vengeance

The October issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal Arashi magazine is announcing on Friday that manga creator Ena Moriyama will begin serializing his new series in the November issue titled Monte Cristo Hakushaku that adapts the Alexandre Dumas novel The Count of Monte Cristo. The series will be featured on the cover of the issue, and will have a first chapter containing 35 pages.

The preview for the manga lists that the story will revolve around Cristo, who had lost everything. He dedicates his life to getting revenge.

The original French novel was released in 1844, and has since been adapted multiple times into various media. Samurai Gun creator Kazuhiro Kumagai also penned a manga adaptation of the novel in 2012.
