Korean Nodame Cantabile to Stream on DramaFever

Tomoko Ninomiya's shōjo manga adapted into live-action drama

International video streaming site DramaFever will stream Tomorrow's Cantabile, the Korean live-action adaptation of Tomoko Ninomiya's romantic comedy manga Nodame Cantabile. The title comes from the main character's name: Seol Nae Il; Nae Il means "tomorrow" in Korean.

DramaFever describes the story:

Musical prodigy Cha Yoo Jin (Joo Won) dreams of conducting orchestras, but despite his ambitions and international upbringing, he's begrudgingly stuck in South Korea because of a traumatic childhood accident. Cue Seol Nae Il (Shim Eun Kyung), a nutty classmate who eschews the rules and plays everything by ear, from music to life. Though initially repelled by her unrefined ways, Yoo Jin slowly discovers Nae Il is the unique melody to his harmony: combined, the two create a song that makes their hearts soar.

The drama will star Shim Eun Kyung as Seol Nae Il (Nodame) and Joo Won as Cha Yoo Jin (Shinichi Chiaki). The drama is set to premiere on KBS in October, and will consist of 20 episodes total.

Group Eight produced Tomorrow's Cantabile, which has also adapted the manga Boys Over Flowers and Pretty Man into live-action dramas.

Fuji TV aired a live-action Japanese adaptation of the manga in 2009 that ran for 11 episodes, starring Juri Ueno as Nodame and Hiroshi Tamaki as Shinichi Chiaki.

Kodansha serialized the manga in Japan in Kiss magazine from 2001-2009 and collected it into 23 volumes. Del Rey licensed the manga in North America.
