Hong Kong Man Arrested for Uploading One Piece on bitshare

posted on by Egan Loo

According to the Content Overseas Distribution Association, Hong Kong customs officials arrested a male Hong Kong resident for allegedly uploading Japanese manga, anime, and other contents via the online storage service Bitshare without authorization. Specifically, he is accused of uploading the One Piece anime, the live-action television series Hero, and two other works, and then earning profit by posting the files' addresses on the site HK Pub.

According to the investigation, the suspect earned US$250 to US$1,250 a month for two months by uploading massive amounts of manga, movies, and live-action television series. This is the first arrest via LMS1+, a surveillance system jointly developed by Hong Kong customs' cybercrime center and the University of Hong Kong.
