Live-Action Nobunaga Concerto's English-Subtitled Trailer Streamed

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Series adapting Ayumi Hashii's historical manga premiered on October 13

Fuji TV began streaming an English-subtitled preview for the live-action Nobunaga Concerto series on Monday. The video features the drama's main theme song, "Ashioto ~Be Strong" (Sound of Footsteps ~Be Strong) by Mr. Children. The trailer includes the same content as the previous video streamed last month.

Shun Oguri (Lupin III, Captain Harlock, Detective Conan, Hana Yori Dango, Space Brothers) plays the title warlord and his modern counterpart Saburō in the live-action series and also in the film. Kou Shibasaki (Dororo's titular character, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers's Yoshimune) plays the show's heroine Kichō, who is Oda Nobunaga's wife, and Takayuki Yamada (Crows Zero, Densha Otoko, Gantz) plays Kinoshita Tōkichirō/Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The cast also includes Osamu Mukai, Daisuke Fujigaya, Kaho, Naoto Fujiki, Gaku Hamada, and Masahiro Takashima.

The series premiered as part of Fuji TV's 55th anniversary project on October 13. The Nobunaga Concerto anime premiered in July, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

Ishii launched the manga in the inaugural issue of Gessan in 2009, and Shogakukan published the 10th compiled volume in May. The manga ranked #10 in the Male Readers category of the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" list by Takarajimasha Inc. in 2012. The manga was nominated for the fifth Manga Taisho awards in 2012, and it won the Boys' Category of the 57th Shogakukan Manga Awards later that year.
