Kill la Kill and One Piece Released Monday

posted on by Andrew Osmond
First volume of manic action series, plus new One Piece film and TV series adventures

On Monday November 3, Anime Limited will release the DVD of the first volume of Kill la Kill, carrying the first nine episodes of the series.

The heroine is Ryūko Matoi (Ami Koshimizu), seeking her father's killer. Her search brings her to Honnōji Academy, an insane high school, where she must fight endless battles. Kill la Kill is an original anime from Studio Trigger (Little Witch Academia) that premiered on MBS Tv in Japan on the 3rd of October. Studio Trigger consists of several staff from Gurren-Lagann including director Hiroyuki Imaishi (Dead Leaves, Gurren-Lagann, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt), series script supervisor/writer Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren-Lagann, Nodame Cantabile: Finale, Re: Cutie Honey) and character designer Sushio (key animator/animation director on Gurren-Lagann and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt).

The Blu-ray edition of Kill la Kill Volume 1 will be released on December 1; the Blu-ray delay was caused by a synch problem on one episode.

Manga Entertainment is releasing the third of its box-set collections of the feature films spun off from One Piece. The collection continues the following films: One Piece: Karakuri Shiro no Mecha Kyohei (aka Mega Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle); One Piece: The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventure in Alabasta; and One Piece: Episode of Chopper + Fuyu ni Saku, Kiseki no Sakura.

Of the films, One Piece: The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventure in Alabasta has an English dub track as well as the Japanese-language option. The other films are sub-only.

As well as the movie collection, Manga Entertainment is also releasing the eighth box-set of the TV series, carrying episodes 183 to 205.
