Durarara!! Relay PS Vita Game's Promo Previews Gameplay, Story

Mamoru Miyano narrates video as Masaomi Kida

Kadokawa began streaming a promotional video for the upcoming Durarara!! Relay PlayStation Vita game on Wednesday. The video features the game's world and previews the story. The video features the game's main theme song, "Reason..." by Mikado voice actor Toshiyuki Toyonaga.

Mamoru Miyano narrates the commercial as his character Masaomi Kida. He introduces the features and story of the game and then scolds Mikado for not listening.

The game will ship in Japan on January 29. Normal copies of the game will sell for 6,200 yen (about US$62), and the downloadable version will retail for 5,500 yen (US$55). The limited edition version of the game will come with a "Senkaku Banrai" (Roaring Business) drama CD, and will cost 8,400 yen (about US$84).

The game gets its name from the Relay System, which has the player switching characters in every chapter of the game. The game will tell an original story that was not in the light novel series or the anime. The story is set in Tokyo's Ikebukuro neighborhood in January, when Mikado, Masaomi and Anri face their school's third term opening ceremony. In town, Russia Sushi's Simon hands out leaflets, and Shizuo tosses around vending machines; the usual everyday scenes unfold. At the 60-story cinema, Yuhei Hanejima and Ruri Hijiribe star in the January movie Case Bodyguard 2: Salaryman Ninja Guy, with many people waiting to see it. And every day, Celty handles one assignment after another to deliver items in briefcases.

A manga adaptation of the game by Izuco Fujiya is running in Kadokawa's Monthly Sylph magazine.

The upcoming Durarara!!×2 television anime will air in three separate cours (quarters of a year). The first part (Durarara!!×2 Shō or "understanding") will premiere in January 2015, followed by the second part (Durarara!!×2 Ten or "motion") in July 2015 and the third part (Durarara!!×2 Ketsu or "conclusion") in January 2016.
